It’s been a busy and magical few months for The Glass Aisle, the haunting, elegaic collaboration between singer-songwriter Brian Briggs (Stornoway) and poet Paul Henry, since both The Glass Aisle album and poetry collection were launched in February. Tracks from the album including ‘John Moonlight’, ‘Inside The Canal’s Cathedral’ and ‘Each Leaf Must Fall’ have been played on Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Show, Cerys Matthews’ BBC 6 Music show and on Chris Hawkins’ BBC 6Music morning show. Brian Briggs and Paul Henry have played a sold-out show at The Social, London for Caught by the River and atop Word on the Water, the stunning bookshop barge moored on Regent’s Canal. Paul even got stranded in a snow drift. Reviews have been pouring in too, not least a wonderful review by John Andrews for Caught by the River who dubs Paul Henry’s poetry collection The Glass Aisle as one that ‘demands to be read in detail, every word, every space to be picked over forensically with care.’
Thank you to everyone who has come out to support this unique project, coming to gigs, buying CDs and sharing their love for the music and poetry. It couldn’t happen without you.
As festival season warms up, Paul Henry and Brian Briggs will be touring The Glass Aisle across the country, and Paul Henry will be making some solo appearances* too. See you in the sun!
