Last month, Faber & Faber with Arts Council England announced the recipients of the Faber New Poets scheme 2015–16, with awards going to Crispin Best, Elaine Beckett, Sam Buchan-Watts & Rachel Curzon, as well as a further eight highly commended poets.
Open to those who have yet to publish a first collection or pamphlet, the Faber New Poets scheme offers mentorship, pamphlet publication & financial support. In 2015, the scheme welcomed over nine hundred manuscript submissions.
The Faber New Poets pamphlets will be published in April 2016 & the Faber New Poets will be on tour, reading & performing at a number of venues, festivals & universities across the country in the Spring, dates to be announced in the new year.
Ahead of then, you can catch the Faber New Poets 2015-2016 reading together for the first time as part of a NEW VOICES event, courtesy of those good folks at Faber Social & their partners Literary Friction.
On 1st February 2016, Crispin Best, Elaine Beckett, Rachel Curzon & Sam Buchan-Watts will be taking to the stage at the ever-atmospheric The Social, Little Portland Street, for the monthly Faber Social night. They’ll be performing their poetry alongside novelists Ned Beauman, Joanna Cannon & Evie Wyld, with music from Literary Friction / NTS DJs.
